Unexhausted Time by Emily Berry

This is one of a number of books I ordered based on poems in the 2023 Forward Poetry collection, in this case it was the poem Scholar that which concludes with the lines “… Now the sorrow | was accounted for, and it was beautiful, | because magpies were. They had that deep | indigo strip among the black.”

I also tagged the poem Paris which recounts the awkwardness of a relationship and Empty a short poem that has such power and complexity in its emotions.
